Frequently asked questions about enrollment and the lottery
For the fall 2022-2023 when will the open enrollment period begin and application forms be available?
Open enrollment for the 2022/23 school year begins on October 15th and runs through February 28th.
When is the open enrollment deadline for the lottery?
To have your student entered in the lottery a registration must be completed by Feb 28th at midnight.
When will the lottery take place?
The lottery is set for March 23rd at 4:30pm. The lottery is open to the public but you are not required to be in attendance.
What grades will you serve in Fall 2022-2023?
PSCS will serve grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10 and 11. We will add a grade every year thereafter.
How many openings will there be in each grade?
This number varies from year to year, with the majority of openings in Kindergarten. With families moving there can be a few spots open in each grade level, student’s with already enrolled siblings will have preference for open spots.
How old does my child need to be to register for Kindergarten?
A child must be five years old on or before August 31 to enroll as a Kindergarten student.
Do I have to attend an Information Session?
We strongly suggest that if you are considering becoming a part of our PSCS family that you attend an information session before submitting an application. This is to ensure that our school’s philosophy and values align with that of your family.
How can I be sure my application was received?
If applying via the online registration option you will receive a confirmation email containing your lottery registration number. If you are applying via mail you will be contacted by phone, mail, or email with your unique registration number.
Does the day I submit my application have any impact on the lottery selection process?
All applications entered during the open registration period will be randomly generated during our scheduled lottery.
How will I know the results of the Lottery?
Results from the lottery are posted on our website after the lottery has taken place
How am I notified if there is an opening if my student after the lottery/if my child is on the post lottery waitlist?
You will get a call letting you know that there is an opening, we will leave a message if no one answers and give you a time frame to call back with an acceptance of the spot.
My student was selected in the lottery. What do I need to do next?
You will need to confirm that you are accepting the spot and complete the enrollment packet( it will be emailed to you).
What if my child is accepted in the lottery for their upcoming grade, but retained at the end of the year?
Students selected for enrollment by lottery or waiting list must provide evidence in the form of a report card that they have successfully completed the grade previous to that for which they are seeking enrollment. Retained students will lose lottery placement and be transferred to the waitlist for the appropriate grade.
What if I want to register my child/children for the current year’s wait list during the open lottery enrollment period?Prior to December 31st of the calendar year, you may call the school and request a paper copy of the current year’s registration form. After January 1st, PSCS does not accept registrations for the school year currently in session.
