Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 ("Title IX"), 20 U. S. C. §1681 et seq., is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities. All public and private schools, school districts, colleges, and universities receiving any Federal funds ("schools") must comply with Title IX. The implementation of Title IX at Pioneer Springs ensures a safe environment for all students and staff fromf discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation.
As noted in the Behavior and Discipline Policy, Pioneer Springs does not tolerate acts of harassment. Any member of this community--staff, student, parent-- who believes that an act of harassment has occurred is encouraged to report the harassment the Title IX Coordinator. Supportive measures will be available to staff and students who have alleged harassment and to staff or students accused of sex or gender-based harassment. Students found to have engaged in acts of harassment or other acts that create a hostile environment may be disciplined. Staff accused of engaging in acts of harassment or other acts that create a hostile environment will also be referred to the PSCS Human Resources and may be subject to discipline including termination.
Grievance Procedures:
A report of harassment should be made to the Title IX Coordinator whose duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating the school's efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities under Title IX and to carry out an investigation of any grievance communicated to the school alleging its noncompliance with Title IX or alleging any actions which would be prohibited by Title IX in accordance with the procedures articulated here.. Title IX prohibits retaliation against individuals who submit grievances or who participate in the resolution process. Grievances alleging discrimination on the basis of sex in any program or activity shall be handled in accordance with the aforementioned procedures.
Any questions about complaints of student-to-student or employee-to-student sexual harassment, available counseling or educational resources for students impacted by sexual harassment, or about filing a Title IX complaint with the school should be directed to the Title IX Coordinator:
